Job Purpose

To ensure the secure transportation, loading, and offloading of seafood products in accordance with instructions, while upholding food safety, quality standards, and timely deliveries.

Minimum Requirements

• • Matric or equivalent.
  
  • Valid Code 14 Driver’s license with no endorsements.

• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) will be advantageous.

• At least 3-5 years’ experience in driving heavy-duty trucks and experience with a
  Fuller gearbox (e.g. superlinks, interlinks, refrigerated trailers, etc.).

• • Experience with cold storage/refrigerated trucks will be advantageous.

• Have own reliable transport.

Key responsibilities:

• Safely driving the trucks (code 14) to transport products across long distances or local

routes.

• Monitor and control the temperature of the trailer during transit to ensure the

products remain at the required frozen or fresh temperature to avoid spoilage.

• Supervising or assisting with the loading/offloading of products, ensuring it is secured

and that cold-chain breaches are minimised during handling.

• Conducting mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking

refrigeration units, brakes, tyres, and lights, and reporting any defects immediately.

• Adhere to all traffic laws (Road Traffic Act), safety regulations (OHSA), and company-

specific health and safety policies.

• Accurately maintaining logbooks, managing delivery notes, invoices, and cold-chain

compliance paperwork (temperature logs).

• Planning efficient routes to ensure timely delivery, considering traffic, road

conditions, and necessary rest periods.

• Orderly return products from clients when not conforming to customer requirements.
• Notify Line Manager immediately if any delivery targets/deadlines cannot be met.
• Ensure that food safety and quality procedures are adhered to.
• Adhere to rules pertaining to the receiving areas of customers and/or suppliers.
