Formal Schooling / Degree:
Grade 12 and Samtrac / Degree / Diploma in Safety Management or manufacturing/engineering-related field with extensive safety experience.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
Languages:
English.
JOB OBJECTIVES
Implement and maintain programmes to ensure that The company complies with all relevant safety and environmental legislation and ISO45001.
Inform management of all legal requirements.
Implement and maintain awareness programmes related to health, safety, and environment.
Conduct health, safety, and environment audits to ensure compliance with requirements, objectives, and standards.
Conduct incident investigations.
Ensure safety targets are met.
Liaise with regulatory authorities (SAPS, DOL, DWAF, COCT, etc.).
MAIN TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for all aspects relating to health, safety, and environment.
Internal HSE audits.
Creation and updating of relevant Safety Files.
Generation, distribution, and filing of Safety Meeting Minutes and presentations.
Generation of relevant reports (Annual, Monthly, Statistical, Incidents, Near Misses, etc.).
Ensure legal compliance on SHE and all permits are kept up to date.
Incident investigation (Root Cause Analysis).
Site risk assessments and planned job observations.
Advise on effectiveness of SHE Management System where relevant.
Administration of all relevant documentation.
Conducting of training (Staff, Contractors, Visitors).
Maintenance of good housekeeping standards.
Control, issuing, and ensure compliance of PPE.
Writing and updating SHE procedures.
Document control.
Environmental control in accordance with legislation.
Ensure education of first aiders on emergency preparedness.
Advise management on any conditions experienced by employees that pose a risk to the business, environment, and employees.
Ensure that all safety and risks are assessed, working in conjunction with the Occupational Health Practitioner.
Drive continuous improvement of SHE conditions and system.
Correspond with applicable government authorities, regulators, and service providers regarding SHE matters.
Initiate and implement safety programmes, such as ergonomics.
Ensure that occupational hygiene surveys (illumination, noise, ventilation, HCS, etc.) are conducted as scheduled, with controls maintained and corrective actions implemented where applicable.
Ensure that contractor safety files are available, reviewed, and compliant before work starts on-site.
Conduct induction for staff and contractors.
Respond swiftly to incidents.
Facilitate removal of saleable and non-saleable waste.
Manage site cleaning function.
Manage hygiene and pest control.
Ensure firefighting and fire prevention equipment is serviced and available.
Undertake additional reasonable duties based on the operational needs of the business.
Manage day-to-day site security issues.
Ensure compliance with ISO45001.

Ensure incidents are investigated appropriately within acceptable timeframes.
